Modlin Family Road Trip 2010 - Day 2 - Tennant Creek to Katherine 673km

We have been amazed at the vastness of this great country of ours. You can drive for an hour and not see anyone. I would say "not see anything", but we did run into a couple of swarms of locusts and saw plenty of cows and eagles circling. We had a coffee at the Coffee Club in Katherine and everything seemed to be going okay. Our accommodation definitely improved, but not Joseph's sleeping positions. Let's go to bed at 8:30 tonight!!! I was banished to the toilet so I could read. This time we gave Kurtis and Joseph the double bed, Elijah the bunk bed and Belinda and I had the other double bed. Joseph was found sleeping on the floor in the middle of the night and Kurtis said he got very little sleep. Joseph still moved around a bit and gave Kurtis a few good whacks during the night.

Belinda driving...a very rare sight.

The Daly Waters HiWay Inn. A great country Roadhouse and Pub. Cheap food and not so cheap fuel $1.89.

One of the many, many road trains the Hyundai Tuscon has struggled to overtake... even at 130km/h.

We stopped off before Katherine at Cutta Cutta Caves. 700m down into the earth and Belinda doesn't look freaked out at all. Quite humid down there and the guide found it a bit hard to stray away from his lines with the many thought provoking questions from Kurtis and Elijah.

Joseph also did well, but loved to go ahead of the pack and be in charge rather than get a photo.

Katherine Hot Springs. 32 degrees all year round and fresh running water. We did have to drag the boys here. They wanted to swim at the Knotts Crossing "Resort" pool. Then we had to drag them away from this place.

The Buddies.
